Father's Day Camping in Butano State Park

A few weeks ago we drove down the coast to camp in the redwoods of Butano ("BUTTE-a-no") State Park with some of Daddy's biking friends.  Fueled by smoothies,
we learned all about scat ("it comes out of you and it comes out of me, it starts with an S and ends with a T, I know what you're thinking but let's not call it that, let's be scientific and call it SCAT!  Piece. Of. SCAT!  Piece. Of. SCAT!") and the local UCSC mascot the banana slug from the ranger program, inspiring us to create a banana slug hotel
with over 30 of them we found throughout the woods.  Gross.
 We also ate well,
 escaped to the beach
to chase the crabs
and foam monsters,
make ourselves into race car drivers,
and bond with new friends.

We even sent the Dads out for a Father's Day mountain biking trip on the flow trail in the Soquel Demonstration Forest.
Was it an awesome weekend?  Oh yeah!
