Ball Roll day is the highlight of the week, starting with a model of the final product: a many-eyed, 8-legged jumping spider.
Then the hard work of shoveling,
water bearing,
stomping,
and jumping off begins.
It works up a real appetite for Surf's Up subs
and fried clams (which you just have to eat face first because your hands are full of sand)
and means you gotta rest a bit
before starting to shape it
into the finished product.
Of course it wouldn't be complete without the traditional baby in a bucket
(a popular activity)
and the little kids having fun
while the rest of us pass out.
It's hard work
but unquestionably glamorous.
